Marzieh and Jochen

It was an honor to capture Marzieh’s and Jochen’s wedding reception at the beautiful Süllberg hotel in Hamburg Blankenese. It was wind swept sunny day in Hamburg and many international guests were at hand to celebrate. Friends and family alike danced the night away to the lovely sounds of traditional persian music.

York Manor Inspiration Shoot

So much fun working with the awesome Becca Coile from A Stylish Soiree on this sweet and casual inspiration shoot. The York Manor in ueber hip Highland Park graciously hosted our interior shots. Once a neighborhood church, the new owners tastefully renovated it with lots of attention to detail. Featuring a large ballroom, the light is great and tall ceilings and regal curtains make for a super festive atmosphere.

Elisa & Jeremy’s Fun Rivera Wedding

Elisa and Jeremy got married at the Rivera in downtown L.A. on June 28th. The fact that Jeremy contacted me in an initial inquiry goes to show that these two like doing things a bit differently! That being said, I love working with people who march to the beat of their own drum!

When we talked about their preferences, they emphasized how they wanted images that didn’t look staged  and how much they liked a natural look as far as their wedding photography was concerned. This natural look is a bit of an art form and requires experience as well as some time. In Elisa and Jeremy’s wedding nothing whatsoever was scripted but I just rolled with it and I’m proud to say:  it worked out really well.

The atmosphere was very laid back -after some getting ready shots at the J.W. Marriott we moved to the Rivera for a sweet family meet and greet session, followed by a cocktail hour and the Signing of the Ketubah. Honoring an old  jewish tradition the ceremony officiated by lovely Rabbi Elanor Steinman started at sundown. Jeremy and Elisa walked down the isle together, holding hands and were serenaded by classical guitarist Tavi Jinariu.

After the ceremony Rivera served up an amazing reception dinner- their food is truly inspiring in a refined modern ambiance. Overall I really loved the casual elegance of this wedding. Everyone had an amazing time- scroll down and you’re going to see the images to prove it!

A Ravishing Redbury Wedding

Getting married at the Redbury hotel last September was an easy decision for Julie and Elliot, the lovely owners of Secret Headquarters, aka the best comic store in L.A.

In the heart of Hollywood, the Redbury boasts an interesting take on old school glamour with a contemporary twist. After a sweet sunset ceremony followed by a cocktail reception the opportunity arose for an intimate bride and groom shoot on the roof while the Santa Ana winds were merrily blowing.

Just Julie and Elliot, and um, the Capitol Records building! How cool is that? After dinner everybody went to the courtyard to shake a leg in celebration of the newlyweds.
Ah, and what a fun party it was!

Jamille’s And Dominic’s Beach Engagement

What’s more romantic than returning to the site of your first date for your engagement shoot? Seemed like a great idea to me, especially since I love the beach! Jamille and Dominic are such free spirits and share this amazing energy , it’s so awesome! They’re simply perfect together and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in October! It was an overcast day at the beach in Santa Monica, which makes for beautiful light- mellow and magical.  We had a great time hanging around for the tide to roll in and watching the sunset together- It was beautiful! Pacific Palisades Wedding

It was a balmy late summer day when Priscilla and Kellii got hitched on September 22nd 2012.  They chose an estate in the Pacific Palisades with an abundance of lush foliage and a warm tropical vibe as their venue.
As a testament to  their impeccable taste in music,  guests were welcomed by the amazing Section Quartet– Let me just say, it was the most unique and brilliant musical experience I ‘ve ever had at a wedding, period!
While the guests enjoyed  late afternoon cocktails after the brief ceremony, the bridal party gathered pool side for photos and this is exactly when the sun broke out… Sound familiar? You must have been reading the story of Priscilla’s and Kellii’s engagement shoot, the same thing happened then! Coincidence? No way.
And the newlyweds? They appeared as if  spoonfed with love! Totally transfixed and absorbed into each other in the best possible way! I found it really hard to turn my camera away from them, that’s how much  happiness they radiated.     But let’s backtrack a little….    Take a look at these  darling little elves…. Dancing to their own secret choreography… Oh, to be a kid again!!!

Wedding Bells On Ponza

By picking Ponza as their destination,  Nicole and David managed to kill two birds with one stone.   Ponza being the place where part of Nicole’s family hails from, they got to reunite with family- and roam the homeland for their honeymoon!

Ponza is a beautiful small island in the Tyrrhenian Sea southwest of Rome, inhibited from neolithic through roman times.  There is virtually no tourism apart from rich romans partying on fancy yachts.

Nicole and David got married on June 21st, the day of the summer solstice-  the longest day of the year!  Just a day after the feast of San Silverio (the patron saint of the island)  which always draws a large crowd, featuring catholic processions and ending in fulminant fireworks!

The charming hotel where all the guests stayed doubled as ceremony site as well as for the cocktail hour with its very pictoresque landing on top of Ponza’s steep cliffs.   After sunset a procession ensued with two local musicians leading the way, serenading bride and groom on their way to the reception site- while locals cheered on from their balconies.  It was super special to say the least…

The beautiful veil head piece, given to Nicole by her grandmother.

Nicole rocking her gorgeous Temperley wedding dress!

Meanwhile…..

David paired his granddad’s cuff links with friendship bracelets,  so cool!

Check out those ancient mosaic tiles, showcasing the bride’s Miu Miu’s in the middle flanked by mother of the bride’s Jimmy Choo’s on the left and bride’s sister’s Badgley Mischka’s on the right!

Um, could this backdrop be any more perfect?

Nicole’s lovely maids of honor, all wearing pastel hued dresses of their own choosing.

Lusciously vibrant peonies everywhere, simply delicious!

The welcome bag, put together by Nicole:  It featured a map of Ponza, a recurring motive from the “Save the date” cards designed by her mom!

A Sweet Sunland Wedding

When Melanie and Sterling asked me to be their photographer at their wedding on July 8th,  I was super stoked and honored!  Not only are they both amazing artists,  they also happen to be the coolest, nicest, sweetest people you could possibly imagine.

To sum it up in two words:  Perfect harmony! I have never seen a more relaxed  and gracious bride and a more easy going groom, surrounded by a tight circle of  friends and family, as well as their kids. Truly amazing. And I got to shoot some film again, yay!!!

Beautiful Melanie looking so radiant and happy.

A dream of a dress, a vintage Proenza Schouler. Honestly, it looked as if it was made for Melanie!

Melanie’s Mom helping her into the dress.

Sterling’s daughter Violet, wearing the most adorable wreath by Hollyflora.

Melanie’s lovely bridal bouquet, also by Hollyflora.

The Ketubah, designed by Sterling.

Their wedding was super personal and intimate as can be, there was so much love in the air that day….!  Ceremony and reception were held on the grounds of the couple’s gorgeous residence in Sunland. The flowers looked as if they came from a meadow close by, lovingly plucked while humming a love song!  (Great job Hollyflora!) The ceremony took place under a Chuppah custom designed by the groom, perfectly blending in with the beautiful oak trees all around.

Animal provided the super yummy catering.

The couple with Sylvie, their adorable daughter.

And isn’t that the cutest wedding cake ever? Proof bakery came up with all that preciousness! So damn pretty with those little chamomile flowers, just gorgeous!

Melanie and Sterling asked to cut their cake in privacy without much ado, I am still in awe how they also managed to sneak away right after their ceremony to spend a few minutes all by themselves, cherishing the beginning of their new life as husband and wife.
